Winter gives fishing guides a chance to reset and look forward to the upcoming season. Our season is short, a fast and furious flurry of activity that seems to end as quickly as it begins!

How do you top a perfect day on the water? It would seem impossible, but that’s just what seems to be happening day-in-and-day-out this fall. We have had excellent clients fish with us this season and the river hasn’t disappointed!

Whether it is self-regulation about not harvesting big hens, using single hooks when we could use multiple hooks  or making a conscious decisions about the days of the week we choose to fish, the way we approach the fishery is as unique as the kings we chase.

Summer is in full swing and the fishing just keeps getting better :)

Nothing makes us happier than witnessing the moments when it all comes together, when all the hard work pays off!

Knowing that the last cast is the end of your day on the water, can sometimes make us more aware of what our fly is doing. It makes us fish it all the way through the run. We concentrate on the perfect placement, the perfect drift, the perfect swing or the perfect "twitch." And to me, that's the key: concentration and fishing a fly "perfectly."

Want to fish in Alaska and travel from honey hole to honey hole at your own pace?  Renting a motor home might be the best way to do just that.  You’ll never have to scramble to find a hotel room, a lodge or a VRBO (especially considering the often higher summer rates).  You’ll always have a comfortable roof over your head and a vehicle to get you around.  

KING SALMON FISHING ON THE KENAI PENINSULA

The largest of the Pacific Salmon, the Chinook or King Salmon can be found on the Kenai Peninsula. When I say largest, I mean the absolute biggest fish in the world roam our waters. The world record Chinook was caught out of the waters of the Kenai River back in 1985 and weighed an astonishing 97 lbs 4 ozs.!

For most first-time visitors, Alaska conjures up images of a frigid landscape covered in snow and shrouded in frost; however, Alaska can be quite mild during the summer months, with average highs in June and July hovering around the 65-68 degree mark.
