How To Tie A Trout Spey Intruder - A trout spey fly tying tutorial.

Ever since I started tying intruder flies for Steelhead and Salmon, I became enthralled by the prospect of tying smaller intruders as Spey flies for trout and Dolly Varden in Alaska. Since that time, mini or micro intruders have become popular among trout spey anglers.

This Trout Intruder is easy to tie, with minimal materials. It is also a very effective spey fly for trout. The large profile coupled with a minimal design allows for easy casting. The materials used in this fly can be swapped out for your favorite intruder materials. I really like tying my trout spey streamers in green, black, brown and white. I also suggest using weight at the head if you need to get your fly down faster.

I used a lot of Pheasant materials for this Trout Spey Intruder fly (as spey hackle fly tying), but you can substitute any materials you like and it will still make this fly a great one for trout. You can also use a forward hackle at the very end to protect the marabou and add even more water pushing characteristics.
