ALASKA HALIBUT

OFFSHORE FISHING CHARTERS

Halibut Fishing in Alaska.jpg

Cooper Landing sits in the heart of the Kenai Peninsula in close proximity to some great offshore halibut, salmon and rockfish fishing opportunities. The Kenai Peninsula has two distinct Alaskan saltwater Halibut fishing locations on the East (Cook Inlet) and on the South/West (Prince William Sound & Resurrection Bay).

Some of the best halibut fishing in Alaska is a short drive from our location and is available for most of the spring, summer and fall - almost all year long. For most of the season, halibut can be easy to catch with most charters targeting halibut limiting out by day’s end.

TROPHY ALASKA HALIBUT OF COOK INLET

Aggressively feeding fish and great timing make fishing for Alaska Halibut in Cook Inlet a trip to remember. Timing the huge tidal swings of Cook Inlet and targeting the slack tide means some of the best fishing can happen towards the end of your halibut fishing charter. Some days it’s not how many halibut you catch, but how big of a fish you might tangle with. Knowing what tide is best for halibut fishing separates one charter operator from the next - we will help you find the best tour operators around!

Keep in mind that the limit on halibut and regulations in Cook Inlet can be subject to change and fall into emergency orders by ADF&G, so be sure to talk with your charter captain about the best month and time to fish in Alaska for Halibut.

COOK INLET - DEEP CREEK HALIBUT

Salmon and Halibut Fishing.jpg

Ever had a tractor launch your fishing boat into the ocean? There are no marinas on the west side of the Kenai Peninsula between Homer and Kenai, so the only way to get on the water is to launch from the beach. Four wheel drive tractors or log skidders provide a launching service for Deep Creek and Anchor Point Halibut fishing charters.

Fishing for Halibut and King Salmon here offers opportunities to catch fish that average 30-50lbs or so - the limit on halibut here is 2 per angler per day.

The views on glass-calm days on Cook Inlet have you surrounded with volcanos almost everywhere you look. Halibut here roam shallower water (75 feet or less) to breed and feed, so you won’t have to fish 200ft down!
