After a tumultuous late August with wild fires, road closures, river closures and a temporary relocation of Cooper Landing Fishing Guide, LLC, we are back on our regular guiding and fishing program and back in our home in Cooper Landing, AK.
SO MUCH ACTION THIS JULY!
Another month almost in the books! What a crazy summer it has been! The trout and sockeye fishing has been really awesome lately!
Once again, our guests have been incredible and the fish have been doing their part, wearing us out :)
Looks like our next open date isn’t until October… we’ll be grinding out until then - let’s hope our equipment holds up!
Thank you to everyone who has joined us this season and who has booked with us for future dates :0)
It has been so much fun to work on our YouTube Channel!
With nearly 40 videos already in 2019, we decided to work on a short film. Centering around the fly fishing technique of “trout spey,” we hope to show how much we love to chase trout using 2-handed fly rods, known as spey rods.
Watch as we talk about our passion for spey fishing and for taking our wonderful guests out on the river to tangle with some feisty rainbow trout on big rods!
One of the most practical ways to have a great day on the water is to prepare ahead of time. Being a fishing guide, we are always prepared to fish from the time the boat launches until the time we reach our final destination for the day.
Thank you so much for checking out our YouTube Channel as we grow and offer more and more insights into our fishing world in Alaska!
When spey fishing, especially spey fishing for rainbow trout in Alaska, the concentration is often on how to cast, what lines to use, what sink tip to use and what fly to use. The conversation rarely is about how to actually fish with a skagit line for rainbow trout (a.k.a. trout spey).
Dave takes his through his thoughts on some of the keys to success in spey fishing. Check out our latest video to see what the 3 keys to success in spey fishing are all about!
Within a short driving distance from Anchorage, on your way to and from the Kenai Peninsula where Cooper Landing Fishing Guide, LLC is located, there are lots of adventures that await. Many of our guests ask about things to do on their vacations and we thought we'd put together a photo essay to display all the amazing experiences Alaska has to offer.
Fly anglers are grateful to Brad Pitt and A River Runs Through It for promoting the sport; however, very little "movie quality" skill is necessary when taking up fly fishing for the first time.
